Music has always been of the utmost importance in the worship of St. Peter’s Monkseaton.

The traditions of the past are respected and carried on alongside new ideas. In our weekly worship at 10.00 a.m. we try to have a varied programme of music and hymns which suits everyone. We aim to prepare and lead music in worship to the best of our abilities – in this way we honour God.Music Image

St. Peter’s has an organist who is also choirmaster, a deputy organist who plays one week of the month and deputies who play either organ or piano at Baptisms.

All involved in music at St. Peter’s are fully committed Christians who are sensitive and flexible in their approach for music and worship.

We like to help people at those times of life when choosing music for occasions such as Weddings or Baptisms can be a great joy but also at the sad times when music can be such a comfort and support.

The worship at 10.00 a.m. is enhanced and made special by the presence of a robed four-part choir. The rehearsing at Choir Practice and wearing of robes is our way of telling god we love him.

Choir Practice takes place on Thursday evenings at 6.30 p.m.
